Galt Christmas Crafter's Mall at Estrellita
By Duane Ausherman

Santa and some of the kids that were enjoying giving him some
"ideas" about Christmas wishes. We need to identify the boy in the green T
shirt. Once again, our Al Baldwin came to the rescue by posing for photos.
The John Moran Scholarship Committee was invited to put up a
booth at this event. A raffle would be held to sponsor the scholarships.
This was another good chance to get publicity for I Love Galt.org and for other
groups. The table had handouts for the Galt Area Historical Society,
community service and I Love Galt.
The weather didn't cooperate at all, it was rainy and miserable.
It was not the kind of day that makes people want to go out. They didn't
go out, at least not to the Estrellita Ballroom. Plenty of crafters were
there and well set up to offer goods and gifts to the present buying public.
The raffle was fairly well supplied with about 20 items.
Several crafters offered a gift certificate for the raffle. Merchants in
Galt supplied 10 gift certificates. We just needed people to buy the
tickets. In all, we took in $46 total. However, we got several good
quality students to sign up for community service. A few new friends were
made and some old ones reaffirmed.

The organizer, Kiel Carpenter, sold at the Keylee's Smelly
Goods booth.

The reliable Neider family brought out their great display of
metal art goods.

Sylvia was the first person to buy raffle tickets. She
bought only 25, but since there were only about 120 tickets total in the jars,
hers were drawn 8 times. She was gracious enough to turn all back after
the first two winners. She also donated a wine bottle cork hot plate for
our raffle. The first ticket drawn for it was her's.

Paul and Patti Mayfield had a lovely display of Christmas
Ornaments for sale. They also donated a nice box of handmade ornaments
worth $25 to the raffle.

Jody Sims was on hand with lovely handmade beaded jewelry.
She donated a necklace of the winner's choice. 530-647-0804 and

Gosh, if I had known that pretty girls would sit on Santa's
lap, I would have played Santa!! These are Kristina (16) and Victoria (12)
Pierce from Galt. Both girls signed up for community service.
Kristina has been given the honor of a trip to Europe. She is one of 40
that were selected to go from the entire country.
